When the Woodland Trustees set about creating an annual event to be held in the woodland, the idea was that we would try to continue, whatever the weather. The second time we ran it, we began to doubt our capability (and our sanity) because, for most of the four hours, we were subjected to a monsoon! However, Tarvin folk turned out (all sensibly attired) and the afternoon was a great success. "Well," we thought, "we now know that nothing is going to stop the event going ahead!"
That, of course, was before 2020. Through this year we have had hopes of going ahead – after all, this lock-down can't last that long, can it? We managed the plant sale by running it in front gardens. Can we manage to run the apple pressing similarly?
The most recent statement from the Prime Minister has indicated that, whatever we might try, we are not going to be able to safely run this year's apple pressing while complying with the new regulations. So, very regretfully, the Woodland Trustees have decided that:-
APPLE PRESSING on Saturday 3rd OCTOBER has been CANCELLED!
Ever the optimists (and fervently believing that there will be a time when we can safely so "normal" things after all this), we would like to announce that the first Saturday in October will next year once again be apple pressing day. So, please put in your diaries:-
APPLE PRESSING is on Saturday 4th OCTOBER, 2021!
We DO hope that we see you then!
